Come out for First Friday at the East Tennessee History Center on October 4 from 5:00-7:00 and enjoy free admission to the Museum of East Tennessee History! Guests will hear live music from the History Center porch, enjoy a nice cold Mountain Dew, and experience free museum admission!

First Friday guests are invited to tour the new feature exhibition at the Museum of East Tennessee History, “It’ll Tickle Yore Innards!”: A Hillbilly History of Mountain Dew, a feature exhibit exploring the famous drink that was invented as a mixer for moonshine right here in Knoxville. Visitors can also experience the signature exhibition Voices of the Land and the East Tennessee Streetscape. Refreshments will be provided by Pepsi.

After seeing the “It’ll Tickle Yore Innards!” exhibition, guests are encouraged to venture out and “Dew It in Downtown Knoxville,” a community celebration of Mountain Dew’s birthplace. Visit a variety of downtown businesses for a selection of cocktails, coffees, gift items, and confections celebrating Knoxville’s own Mountain Dew! For more on how you can “Dew It in Downtown Knoxville”  and the list of participating businesses, visit downtownknoxville.org/dew/.

The “First Friday” evening is free and open to the public. The Museum of East Tennessee History is operated by the East Tennessee Historical Society and is located in the East Tennessee History Center at 601 South Gay Street in downtown Knoxville across from the Tennessee Theatre.  For more information, call 865-215-8824 or visit www.eastTNhistory.org.
